A friend recently asked me about the beauty boxes I receive monthly – Birchbox, Prescription Lab, and Beautiful Box – and which one I preferred. I tried to find the right words, but honestly it’s hard to choose one. It depends I guess. I’m usually pretty happy with the products I receive. The only times I am disappointed are when I get stuff that are really badly-rated on Yuka (click here on the post). That and when I receive things that don’t correspond to my profile. For example, I have really thick hair, so a volumizing hair product is really really not my cup of tea!
What I like about the Beautiful Box is that they provide a flyer with the indications on how to best use the products. I love the fact that it’s all on one page.
Baija Paris – Gommage French Pompon – Body Scrub – Yuka:50/100
I’ve already had the chance to try one of their body scrub (it was a caramel one). Not only does it leave the skin super soft, but it’s smells really good. This one has a wonderful fruity smell.
Dr. Botanicals – Serum anti-age au Cacao Noir – Yuka: 19/100
I am always on the look-out for a face serum and this one does apparently wonders for anti-age. Problem is, the Yuka rating is really really not good. On the plus side, the reason for its rating is that it can be irritating and cause allergies. There’s nothing cancerogenic, which is what I absolutely want to refrain using. I’m thinking I might use this and see how my skin reacts.
Patchs relaxants au Concombre – Beautiful Box
God knows if cucumber actually helps soothe puffiness under the eyes, but why not try this one out? You’re supposed to put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes and then leave them on your eyes for another 15 minutes. I don’t know if I can have enough time during the week for that, but why not on the weekend?
STYLondon – Banana Powder – Yuka: 6/100
Another product with a really really bad Yuka rating. But this time it’s cancerogenic so …. next!
Joséphine Cosmetics – La Laque Liquid Lipstick « Louise »
I’ve used this lipstick for several times now and it’s great! The applicator is one of the best I’ve ever used and makes it easy to really define properly my lips. The color I received is a purplish one. I usually like this color in Autumn / Winter, but Spring / Summer evenings is good too. I usually just need one swipe as it is highly pigmented and it barely moves during the day (even after a meal). It’s a semi-matte so it doesn’t leave a dry feeling on your lip. I would recommend using a lip scrub before using this.
Although the box contained 5 beauty products, Beautiful Box spoiled us even more with 5 free prints from Cheerz and a colorful metal box (which Baby Girl has already claimed as hers ).
