Bistrot Blériot in Paris, France

Hey, you! 🥘

I thought I was done with our recent Paris series, but I realised that although not initially planned, there was no way I could not post about our lunch at Bistrot Blériot. It was, after all, probably the most memorable meal I had during this trip.

Bistrot Blériot is not too far from the Philippines Embassy, which is the main reason I chose to have lunch here after our appointment. This was also the perfect opportunity to eat at a typical Parisian bistrot.

A Bistrot is a small restaurant, serving moderately priced simple meals in a modest setting.

It offers French home-style cooking and slow-cooked food like traditional stews. It was really important for me to eat here. Moreover, it is located outside of the Parisian tourist spots so I was pretty excited to check it out.

The restaurant's interior made us feel like time had stopped. There was even an old juke box! Sure, it was outdated and old, but it was also very quaint and cozy. It had its charm. 🥰🥰

They have a permanent menu and they also have a side menu, which is regularly changed. We decided to go with dishes from their permanent menu. They also have "le plat du jour" which is the day's special, but the nice bistrot owner told us that the day's special was not fully-cooked yet and might take a few more minutes.

While waiting for our food to arrive, we were given some French bread that was still warm and so good!

S had the Ravioli with Parma Ham and Parmesan Cream Sauce. Initially, she wanted their Gnocchi, but they unfortunately ran out of it. But she had no regrets! I had a bite and it was delicious! In the past, I had a horrible experience with a similar dish (click here to read about it) and I think I've been a bit traumatised since. I realised today that parmesan cream sauce is actually quite good!

The Husband ordered the Duck Confit and Roasted Potatoes. I was so sure that he was going to order this as Duck Confit is one of his favorite French dish. He absolutely loved it - he said it wasn't over-salted (as it is the case sometimes), it was crispy in the outside, and tender in the inside.

I ordered the Steak Tartare, which is raw beef mixed with onions, capers, parsley, seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, mustard, tabasco, salt, black pepper, and with a raw egg yolk as well. In Bistrot Blériot, the beef is knife-cut. I'm not sure why knife-cut is better than grounded with a machine, but I've always been told that. Mental note to self: do some research!

Anyways, the Steak Tartare was absolutely delicious. It is a dish layered with different flavours and texture. It's very delicate and exquisite. Almost orgasmic. Personally, I would choose Steak Tartare over Steak any time. Every thing is this plate was perfection to me. The French Fries were very good as well as the green salad with its vinaigrette.

Bistrot Blériot also happens to be a wine boutique and so the owner recommended a nice glass of red wine from Burgundy which went perfectly well with our meal.

After being back home for a few weeks now, I feel the same way about this restaurant as I did when we were there and I sincerely hope we will be able to go back there someday. I highly recommend this Bistrot for its warm welcome, delectable food, amazing wine, affordable prices and excellent overall typical parisian experience.

What's your favorite classic French dish? 🇫🇷

xoxo Elodie
