Hey, you! I hope everything's going well, especially with the de-confinement. The weather yesterday was horrible, so I don't know if many people were out anyways. So far, it seems like the sun might be out for a little bit today. But I find that it is rather cold for a month of May. Perhaps this might be nature's way of telling us to slowly de-confine. I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyways .... Last night, the Husband and I uploaded the second video on our Youtube channel. We haven't told our friends yet. We're waiting to upload at least 10 videos so there's actual content on the channel. We want to do different things, but mostly around food and recipes. It doesn't matter whether we make it big or not, we're just so excited! In fact, I haven't seen the Husband as excited and motivated in a lonnnnnggggg while!
So today's recipe is Chili con Carne. As the Saucisses et Lentilles dish (click here for the post), this is a dish that I have only started making since I got the Thermomix robot (click here for the post). I have no idea why I've always felt to intimidated to make this from scratch, because in fact it is a classic stew with ground meat and beans. Anyways, making it with the Thermomix is such an easy and fun (I sometimes let Baby Girl make it) for us, that I don't really know if I will make it the "classic" way.
Like most Thermomix recipes that I try, I got it from the Cookomix website (click here for the site). When I start getting comfortable with the recipe, I make little tweaks here and there. That's true to this one.
Chili con Carne (Thermomix Recipe) - adapted from the Cookomix recipe
Ingredients:
1 garlic clove
1 red onion
25g olive oil
500g ground beef
1 tsp. chili powder (if you want it spicier, you can add more)
2 tsps. cumin powder
1 pinch dried oregano
Salt
Black pepper
5 tbsps. crushed tomato
Half or 1 whole bell pepper (I used frozen bell peppers)
150g. water
1 beef broth cube
500g. kidney beans, drained
1 small can corn, drained
Directions:
Put the onion and garlic in the thermomix. Mix 4 sec / speed 5. With the spatula, scrape the sides of the bowl.
Add the olive oil in the Thermomix and cook 3 min / 100 °C/reverse /speed 2.
Add the ground beef in the Thermomix and cook 3 min / 100 °C/reverse /spoon.
Add the chili powder, cumin powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, crushed tomatoes, bell peppers, water, and beef cube in the Thermomix. Cook 15mins/120°C/reserve/spoon
I used the basket to cover the bowl instead of the measuring lid.
Add the kidneys beans and corn in the Thermomix and cook 10 min/120°C/reverse/spoon covered with the basket.
Serve immediately. We like to top it with creme fraiche or sour cream, grated cheese, and fresh coriander.
Enjoy! 😋😋
