Christmas 2023 so far ... šŸŽ„

Hey, you! šŸ˜Š

I realized that every December I like to be more active on the blog compared to other months. One year, if I'm not mistaken, I even tried to write every day, but sadly that didn't happen this year. In fact, I didn't even think about it until I sat down to write this post. I might have left my job two weeks ago, but I am as busy if not more than I was before leaving.

December is always special because it's after November, which is my dark month. Once I say goodbye to November and greet December hello, I feel like curtains have opened and light can finally come in. I feel lighter and ready for what's next. On paper, it has the potential to be a depressing month with my birthday and my dad's birthday a week after, but I don't really feel down on those days. Instead of that November sadness and gloom, it feels more like a celebration of life.

Anyways ....

Two years ago, I was saddened to not have been to the Christmas market and made myself a promise that that wouldn't happen again because I love Christmas markets. Especially in our city (it's been voted 3rd best in Europe!) ā¤ļø. We like warming ourselves up with some Tartiflette, Churros, Mulled Wine as we walk around the market and feel the vibes.

We've been to the Christmas market at least 4 times already! In fact, I was there last Friday with a friend and I finally went on the City Sky Liner. Last year, we went back and forth with the Husband and S because we couldn't decide whether to go during the day or during the night. In the end, we never made it up there. Hahaha. Last Friday, my friend and I went in the evening and I was a bit disappointed. Next time, it will be during the daytime.

This year, I decided to make our own Chocolate Advent Calendar for two reasons. One, I think that the ones sold in stores are too expensive for what they are! And two, we were disappointed with our calendar last year and the year before! So I decided to make our own. I bought our favorite chocolates, cloth, string, and took an afternoon off to make it. So far we are enjoying it. We also included a lil treat for Bogart the Pug. In fact, he tried to steal number 24 today! šŸ˜‚

I also came up with a list of Christmas Movies I would like to watch this year. Some are classics, others are newer. The next post will be all about this. So far, we've managed to watch 3 or 4 movies from that list.

Speaking of list, we also made a Christmas Bucket List. I thought that our Autumn Bucket List went quite well, so I told myself why not make a Christmas one? It's more realistic than the autumn one because there's less time so I kept it short. It's quite fun and I really like the idea. We've already checked out a few and this weekend, we will probably have our puzzle night. I can't wait!

One of the things I have checked out on the list is reading a Christmas book. I finished One Day in December which was on my tbr list for a year. I was happy that I finally read it, albeit I didn't really like the story. If you want to read the review, here it is. Click here for the review.

I guess this Christmas' theme is make-your-own because it just so happens that I also made our Advent Candle Holder. I had everything on hand so I figured I would make it. Inflation is real, guyssss! Kidding aside, I used our old Christmas wreath, that we haven't used in years, but never wanted to get rid of. It's nothing that goes "wow", but I'm happy with the final result.

And finally, I just wanna share with you some of the ornaments on our tree. It's our family tradition to get a new one each year. We actually got that star with the owl a week ago, but I want to get another soon at the Christmas market. A family type.

Anyways, here's how our Christmas has been going so far. The days go so quickly that before we know it, it'll be Christmas day already. But let's not forget, before that, is my birthday. šŸ˜œ

What are some of your Christmas traditions? šŸŽ…šŸŽ„
