Hey, you! š„°
Ten years after and I can't believe I'm still making the same French Apple Cake recipe I learned so many years ago!
Mamie Annie is my brother-in-law's mother and a woman I consider as my own grandmother since I was a little girl. When I moved back to France in 2011, she made this apple cake for me one day and I just knew I had to ask her for the recipe. She did and I've been making this over and over again. At this point, I don't even know how many times I've made it. I've brought it to friends' house, I've made it for our house guests, I've made it to give as a heartwarming gift, even my sister-in-law who lives thousands of kilometers away from us loves it!
I've written about it twice before. Once on another blog in 2012 and a second time here in 2020 (click here for the post). I included the first post in the second one and it was quite emotional for me because turns out the first time I baked it was for my dad when we first found out about his health condition.
Anyways, this time around I decided to make an Instagram Reels and a recipe card. I am not joking when I say that I have never made a more delicious, moist, and soft apple cake in my life! There's a special step but it's not for the faint of heart, which is why I always look forward to making this cake because I don't make it as often as I'd like to.
Tip: the cake is even better the next day. That is if you can stop yourself from eating it in one sitting!
Elodie, this is a great recipe. Interesting that you use sunflower oil instead of butter. Your French Apple Cake looks delicious. š
