Hey, you! đ
It's the birthday of my husband today.
"The one I hate to love and love to hate. Only with you can I have a shouting match one minute, then pee of laughter another. The most humble and discrete person I know in the whole world. Always willing to help and give what he can. Handles my mood swings with perfect expertise. With so little words, you are able to show me how much you love me and our family. Happy 11th (3+8)!!! â¤ď¸â¤ď¸"
The little text above is what I wrote to accompany my Instagram photo of the day and when I compare with last year's blog (click here for the post), I can't help but laugh. Apparently, I still love my husband as much as I sometimes hate him. Yeah, nothing much has changed in the past year. Hahaha.
My husband's birthday this year also happens to be our 20th anniversary of being together. I'm not going to get into it today as I want to focus today on his birthday. I secretly saw him the other day looking at his phone and mumbling to himself, "Who else but me buys a gift for someone else on their birthday?" Hahahaha Poor thing. But in my defense he did ask me to be his girlfriend on his birthday 20 years ago. When I asked him why he did it, he answered sheepishly that at the time he thought it was a good idea. No one turns someone down on their birthday, right? đ đ I don't think he knew we would still be together after all these years.
But if I had a son, and I don't so this can be for any young man who reads this, my unsolicited advice would be - never ask a girl to be your girlfriend on your birthday! I think my Husband regrets it just a little bit. You can thank me later.
Anyways, as usual, I prepared a mini-feast for the Husband's birthday. The night before I made his favorite French Apple Cake. I think I already have the recipe here in the blog. Waittttt, let me check. Ah yes here it is - click here for the post. It is my husband's favorite and he loved having a slice or two for breakfast.
We had Pancit Bihon for lunch. Noodles for a long life! Yes, it is a thing. Then we had more noodles for dinner, Lechon Manok (Filipino Roasted Chicken) because it means something special to us especially on this day, Air-Fried Pork Belly (I am obsessed by our new air-fryer), and Spicy Smashed Cucumber. He didn't want a birthday cake, but instead, he asked for a Chocolate Mug Cake with lots of Vanilla Ice Cream. Give good vanilla ice cream to my Husband and he will be your best friend for life. Hehehe.
Food + gifts + video calls with his siblings = a very happy hubby!
To see my husband smile is one of the best thing ever.
Anyways, before I end this post I just wanted to share the photo above with you. This was taken on his 20th birthday. It was a surprise and Spiderman themed. I have always loved this photo with my in-laws and my dad. Unconditional love.
