It's mid-February already and I just realized that I haven't posted about our December book club pick yet. 😱😱
The Book Club Hotel by Sarah Morgan.
(By the way, this is the US version. The UK one is called The Christmas Book Club. I'm not sure what the differences are but there are definitely different titles and book covers.)

The Book Club Hotel is the story of 4 women. Three of these women (Erica, Claudia, and Anna) are lifelong friends who are part of a book club and once a year, they go on a book club holiday. This year, they have chosen Maple Syrup Inn, considered a winter destination and run by Hattie who is struggling after losing her husband. Aside from the hotel, she is also raising her 5 year old daughter on her own.
If I have to be honest, I first suggested this book for the beautiful cover and as the organizer of our own book club group, the title. I also thought it would be a light read, perfect for this festive period, but as one of our book club friends said, it actually tackled some pretty deep subjects. But the thing is I didn't even realize that as I was reading. I guess the author has a way with her style and words, and is a great storyteller, so I sort of just went along for the ride.
I truly enjoyed reading about these women, their individual hardships, their sweet friendship, the dreamy venue (definitely made me want to stay there!), and the little mystery that intertwined the lives of these women. ✨
