Weekly Meal Plan: Oct. 2 - Oct. 8, 2022

Hey, you! šŸ‚

Soups are in, sandwiches are out! We keep hearing how difficult times are coming and it's quite scary actually. I recently received a mail from our energy provider and our bill has officially doubled! šŸ¤Æ Tsk tsk. Our consumption has obviously not doubled, but the price is directly impacted by the current Ukraine-Russia war. So as much as I love soups, I think I'm gonna need to find a solution because it's just not possible to use our electric stove as much as we do. I'm used to making soups from scratch - broth from the bones or cooking meat for hours to tenderise it perfectly. I don't have a pressure cooker, so after reflection I thought maybe it could be time to buy one. I read somewhere that using a pressure cooker to tenderise meat takes 70% less time than cooking it the traditional way. Seventy percent is huge! But I don't quite know what to get yet. I've been debating whether I should get a traditional pressure cooker or buy something like an Instant Pot, for example. My friends still can't believe that I don't have an Instant Pot, but I just never had any use for it. So I'm still here thinking about things, but making a conscious effort to use less energy.

I hope you noticed that I finally uploaded the Seafood Pasta al Cartoccio video and there is a blog post here with the recipe (click here for the post if you haven't seen it yet).

I've thought about my next video, but I'm still not sure what I'm gonna film. I finally decided on Nilagang Baboy, a delicious Filipino pork and vegetable soup, but I'm wondering if I should film that or maybe first my French Apple Cake. It's the season for apples and it's a family recipe, so trust me - it's all worth it! And because it's take quite some time to cook pork soup - I might just have to wait until I buy a pressure cooker / instant pot first.

xoxo Elodie
